When J.J.'s mother asks him for more time for her birthday, he is determined to find it...impossible as it may seem. J.J. lives in Kinvara Ireland and in Kinvara, there just never seems to be enough time. People are constantly running late, hobbies are given up because regular work seems to eat up all the time available. But in Tir na n'Og, time stands still...at least it used to. But things there aren't going well. As time passes in Tir na n'Og, the fairies are dying. J.J. must find the leak of time between the fairy world and his own and somehow it that leak is linked to his past and the new garda (policman) that has come to town.
Kate Thompson's novel weaves Irish folklore and history throughout her story in a thorougly wonderful way. Each chapter has its own Irish tune and I would love to hear them played. Being Irish and having recently traveled there, I immediately took to this story and couldn't wait to see how J.J. resolved his troubles. Apparently there is a companion book that I am going to have to check out as well.
